Paranoia (2013), PG-13, 1 star

Gary Oldman, Liam Hemsworth and Harrison Ford.
Ay, ay, ay! Don't you feel when you see an awful movie that you want your precious time back? Time is precious and about 2 hours of my life is gone. Basically, Oldman and Ford would give it their all and find a way to save the movie and I will get to that in a moment. I always anticipate a movie like this because I can find some hidden agenda in the characters and the plot. However, this is a straight-up ridiculous story.

Adam Cassidy (Liam Hemsworth) is a computer tech genius and inventor working in a corporation run by Nicholas Wyatt (Gary Oldman). He is arrested for insubordination. But, later, Adam is confronted by Wyatt's henchman, Miles, (Julian McMahon) into going on the inside of a rival corporation, otherwise, he will be arrested for fraud.

Julian goes inside the company run by Wyatt's mentor, Jack Goddard (Harrison Ford). Goddard built the company that Wyatt thought Goddard stole his ideas to create a software that can hack into cellphones, but with certain modifications from the military. Wow! I don't know when those cellphones created with military equipment can be made to the public. I would try it out. Agent Gamble from the FBI (Josh Holloway) interrogates Adam and reveals that workers from Wyatt's company who worked for Goddard was killed. It creepily gets suspicious.

Ford and Oldman going at each other.
Boy, this is an unoriginal movie. I knew exactly where this movie was going on from minute one because you know there will be controversy among the two bosses and companies and Liam Hemsworth would do anything to get information and even seduce Emma Jennings (Amber Heard) the Director of Marketing for Goddard's company. Even, a 13 year old can predict this.

Liam Hemworth looks empty and unconvincing in this main role. We do not believe for a second that we are convinced that he was danger because we know the story is so distracting. Ford and Oldman save this movie for 2 scenes of great acting where they go at each other. I remember Ford and Oldman were going at each other in 1997's Air Force One where Ford was convincing as the President and Oldman was awesome as the villain. But, here, they both end up with a terrible script.

Amber Heard is a very good actress, but she was not even that interesting in this give-away role as the person who forms a relationship with the hunk. There are so many cliches in this movie. If you would take Hemsworth and rewrite the script, maybe you would have some something. But, we are stuck with this movie and I hope his brother, Chris, delivers two good movies this year with Rush and the sequel to Thor. One of the worst movies of the year, no doubt.
