Ex Machina (2015), R, ★★★★

Eva, the android, interacting with another woman. How does one feel when you are facing with technology that feels like an attractive figure that is staring at you and maybe seducing you? How does one feel when he or she (an artificial-intelligence figure) is attracted to you or if one is attracted to the android? It is weird because wouldn't the population decrease if any one human has artificial sex with an android? But, in the end, it is all about the interaction between an android and a human. It is the two-fold chemistry and psychology that makes you think and wonder as you witness one of the quietest science-fiction movies in recent years. However, this quiet science fiction film is mesmerizing to look at and also unpredictable that it'll keep you on the edge of your seat. A computer coder named Caleb (Domnhall Gleeson) has won a "lottery ticket" for a chance to spend a week at a reclusive area in the mountain in the house of Nathan (Oscar Isaac), a genius

Unfriended (2015), R, ★★★

Oh, Skype. What a cool way to connect with many people at the same time. Social media is the biggest tool of marketing, advertising and communication in its technology industry today. Communication is vital amongst clients and family but also with fellow friends. But, sometimes, social media can get a person in quite some trouble. If anybody does something vulgar and puts in on YouTube and/or Facebook and you're in the middle of a job hunt, that one moment can interfere with your prospects and life. Let me clarify: If you mess with somebody, that one moment can definitely mess with your life as witnessed in this movie. It is just a fun Friday the 13th film with a technical twist. The movie starts off with a girl named Laura Barns partying and drunk and lying on a table with a guy on top of her. But, also we see a disturbing video of Laura committing suicide in a baseball field with a gun as it is anonymously posted. However, we see a Skype video of a shirtless guy named Mitch

Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 (2015), PG, 0 stars

Paul Blart and his army of mall cops and security guards. I'm going to save some energy and time to comment what I think about this deplorable piece of junk because it is like the worst Adam Sandler comedy disguised as the worst Kevin James comedy ever made. But, which would you rather go see, right? Here's the plot: Paul Blart (Kevin James) moves to Las Vegas for a convention after six years of protecting the mall in Orange County. He has had a string of bad luck for which his love interest abandons him after six days of marriage, his mother is dead after a milk truck runs her over comically, but it's not funny. So, who's left? His overprotective daughter is who is the clichéd tourist who meets a whole bunch of characters and spends most of her time with one of the hotel's valet parking attendants. I forgot about the central premise: Paul sneaks around this art heist masterminded by Vincent (Neal McDonough), who infiltrates the hotel's security staff to

Serena (2015), R, ★

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper in costume...again. It seemed like another history lesson as the movie takes place in the Great Depression. What can you do for money? What business will take off during the Depression and then afterwards? A businessman has to take some risks to accommodate all of his finances and supplies to overcome what America has gone through over the past few years. However, a man's lumber business is slowly crumbling as workers get hurt and there is not much profit. Unfortunately, despite the talented stardom of its two principal actors, the movie crumbles fast and is as wooden as the wood in the movie. George Pemberton (Bradley Cooper) manages a lumber business and because his business is crumbling, he is having trouble acquiring loans from a bank. During his misfortunes with the business and its workers, he catches his eye on a young woman riding a horse, Serena Shaw (Jennifer Lawrence), who has lost her family in a fire in Colorado. George just r

The Most Anticipated Movies of Summer 2015

After The Avengers, what's next in the Summer? Ok. The summer movie season is around the car and in the world of Hollywood, May is the start of the summer blockbuster season. Let me tell you, this is going to be a packed section of movies this year as a few movies are coming back to theaters after a few years and maybe after...10 years. So, most of the movies I am excited for so I am tempted to see them. A few of them worried about but, again, there could be a surprise amongst the movies I have overlooked. I am going to do something a little different because everybody knows that the most anticipated film is: The Avengers: Age of Ultron and that would be correct. It's actually my most anticipated film. So what I'm going to do is highlight the most anticipated movies after Avengers: Age of Ultron because that movie comes out on May 1st so it's less than a month away and the hype will be fading away in June, July and August. The Avengers: Age of Ultron (May 1)

Furious 7 (2015), PG-13, ★★★

Finally, Dom and Letty dress in fancy clothes in a franchise.  Cars. Action sequences. Women in bikinis. These are the keys to the franchise that nobody believed that it would go on to 7 movies. Every time there is an another movie in the franchise, they have to up the ante a bit or a lot more. With this movie, the energy and level of action is higher than ever before and we'll get to that later in the review. However, even though many people are anticipating the film with excitement, they are also anticipating the movie with unfortunate loss of one of the main actors in the franchise. Even though this seventh movie is not as fantastic as Fast Five and Fast and Furious 6,  this is still another ridiculous, solid addition to the franchise with a heartfelt tribute to one of their family members. Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) promises his badly crippled and comatose brother, Owen (Luke Evans) that he will settle the score and find out who put him in the hospital. Meanwhile, Dom (

Get Hard (2015), R, ★1/2

Kevin Hart training Will Ferrell how to survive in prison.  "DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO SURVIVE IN PRISON?" Will Ferrell: No. Well, no matter because Kevin Hart will train him. It's almost like Trading Places, a great 1980s comedy with Eddie Murphy and Dan Akyroyd,   in a way that two different personalities clash and try to train each other to become the opposite, I think. However, there has to be substance and gravitas to amount to some kind of sympathy towards the characters in retrospect of how charismatic and humorous they are to the film playing in front of an audience. Disappointingly, the movie has too many rape and prison jokes inserted to try to entertain us.  James King (Will Ferrell) was an extremely wealthy hedge fund manager, engaged to a hot gold-digging fianceé, Alissa (Alison Brie). However, during an engagement party that Alissa hosts and she lets John Mayer on-stage to perform, the cops barge in and arrest James for fraud and embezzleme
