The Top 5 Super Bowl Ads of 2014

I have to admit that this Super Bowl was sort of a pathetic game because it the Seattle Seahawks demolished the Denver Broncos 43-8. The match was a blowout. Seattle's defense won the championship, I mean, no question about it. The whole team was on fire and was totally prepared for the game. I mean, Malcolm Smith, a linebacker, was the MVP for the Super Bowl.

But, however, everybody watching the Super Bowl on television are excited to see the advertisements. It was kind of a mixed year for advertisements, but I did find 5 very good commercials which are different from each other in terms of tone and the target audience. Here they are:

5. KIA

I don't know why not many people love the commercial, but I thought it was entertaining and funny at the same time. Laurence Fishburne basically reprises his role of Morpheus from The Matrix to perform something unexpected towards the end. The advertisement basically just focuses on how cool the car is.

4. Microsoft

There were a lot of inspirational advertisements centering on a soldier coming home in a Budweiser Ad and cancer awareness in a Toyota ad, I recall. But, I chose the Microsoft ad because the commercial shows us how people with disabilities are able to not lose hope but to live with the help of advanced technology. It shows gratitude towards the engineers' and computer scientists' hard work on how we are today.

3. Cheerios

I don't know what is wrong with everybody commenting the negative aspects of an interracial family. It's just a damn commercial. The commercial is cute, but I did like the payoff at the end of the commercial of how their daughter was bargaining in exchange for an additional member of the family. Who eats Cheerios? Families, right? So, the ad is geared towards families in general.

2. Radio Shack

I recognize some of the people in the ad but there were moments in this Radio Shack ad that were just downright hilarious. So, the whole set-up was basically a homage to the famous people and fictional characters in the 1980s trying to get their own Radio Shack back since most of the equipment is obsolete. But, again, this was a funny commercial.

1. Budweiser

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I will admit, as an owner of a dog, that this ad got to me. Let's think about this commercial for a second. How are they selling this advertisement encouraging people to get beer? What's the mascot of Budweiser? A Clydesdale. So, there is a Clydesdale in a commercial forming a friendship with a puppy. They become BEST BUDS. I mean, best buddies can have a beer when watching a game or having a conversation. However, we all learned that a puppy will get anybody sold in a commercial. But, I thought it was the best out of the ads, but, marginally over Radio Shack's ad.

Honorable Mentions:

Budweiser

We always pray and want any soldier to come home.

Audi

The moments with Sarah McLachlan just had me laughing.

Volkswagen

I guess we know who will benefit from an actual customer reaching 100,000 miles in a Volkswagen. Good job, engineers!

2015 Documentaries

I have only seen 6 documentaries this year which also includes Amy and I Am Chris Farley . But, I have to be honest, this has not been a particularly strong year for documentaries except for onethat got me emotionally and mentally as what I examine for when they uncover the truth or some facts from the people involved in these documentaries. But, here are the four I have seen this year: Listen To Me Marlon, Unrated, 4 stars This is the most insightful documentary of the year as we only hear Marlon Brando narrating his life and experiences what he has gone through regarding his family, his private life and his film experiences regarding The Godfather , Apocalypse Now , Last Tango in Paris , etc. It is like Marlon Brando came out of his grave to give us another profoundly moving movie only we hear his voice and scenery and nothing else. The Look of Silence, R, 3.5 stars Joshua Oppenheimer's follow-up documentary is a light-hearted but still-disturbing film regarding a ...

Daddy's Home 2 (2017), PG-13, ★1/2

The first Daddy's Home was surprisingly a financial success as I thought it was not as bad as many people thought. I thought it was a solid cable watch because it had enough laughs for that sort of mixed recommendation. I was not craving for a sequel for this movie because again, comedy sequels have a very bad record, however, the only difference is that it is not too late since the first movie came out a few years ago. But, this sequel is a reminder as to why we do not need a sequel to a hit comedy because this is a pretty much forgettable comedy, especially a holiday comedy...which I hade a guilty pleasure for. This did not work for me. Brad and Dusty (Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg) have become friends after the events of the first film and they set up a co-dad system where their two children, Megan and Dylan, spending time at each father's home. Dusty has re-married to writer Karen (Victoria's Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio) and he is step-dad to Adrianna, Karen...

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), R, 4 stars

The stockbrokers worshipping Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) like a god. Wall Street. The clients, the adrenaline, the stocks, the money, the power, and the decadence. The former three pertains to the man's job, but the latter three pertains what any stockbroker wants in order to have the freedom to do whatever they want with the client's money. As Mark Hanna (Matthew McConaughey) would say, "The name of the game is: move the money from your client's pocket into your pocket." We basically spend three hours seeing all of these Wall-Street scumbags steal the clients' money into their own pockets and spend it on booze, drugs, women, and other insane things in more insane activities. I have witnessed here is a great movie that I would not watch repetitively. The movie starts with Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) blowing cocaine onto a hooker's butt and he and his brokers throwing a little person onto a board with a dollar sign in the center. It'...
