After The Avengers, what's next in the Summer? |
I am going to do something a little different because everybody knows that the most anticipated film is: The Avengers: Age of Ultron and that would be correct. It's actually my most anticipated film. So what I'm going to do is highlight the most anticipated movies after Avengers: Age of Ultron because that movie comes out on May 1st so it's less than a month away and the hype will be fading away in June, July and August.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron (May 1)
Without further ado...here are my 10 most anticipated movies after the Avengers sequel.
10. Ted 2 (Jun. 26)
This is the movie I'm extremely worried about because of Seth MacFarlane's last film, A Million Ways To Die in the West. It stunk. This movie: I'm happy to see Ted the bear back again with his vulgar mannerisms and his cuddly face. This time, he has to prove he's human so he and his wife can have a baby with Mark Wahlberg's help, therefore they are going need a sperm donor. There's a better clip regarding the movie with Tom Brady. Look up the Super Bowl TV spot. But, we'll see.
9. Spy (Jun. 5)
(WARNING: Viewer discretion advised.)
I've heard good things about this movie and Melissa McCarthy is a little bit being typecasted as the humorous person but she is funny and ingenious. And, even though they rip off the CIA too many times as comical banter, McCarthy goes in as the replacement as Jason Statham is compromised and Jude Law is off the map and it looks hilarious. Paul Feig and McCarthy have had two good movies: Bridesmaids and The Heat. Let's hope it is a hat-trick hero.
8. Entourage (Jun. 5)
I'm trying to catch up on the TV show and even though the show is all right, I think the movie looks like it's going to be fun and good with a lot of cameos especially two memorable ones from Mark Wahlberg and Ronda Rousey. The whole cast is back and I hope they'll have a great time plus I like movies regarding the movie business.
7. Pitch Perfect 2 (May 15)
The first movie surprised me completely and now this movie is on the radar. However, I am worried about this sequel because this film almost looks like a complete bore. Everybody is back: Anna Kendrick, Skylar Astin, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, etc. along with new additions such as Elizabeth Banks, Hailee Seinfeld and Pentatonix. It has a pretty predicable storyline but you'll attend solely because of the characters and also its a cappella competition.
6. Minions (Jul. 10)
Minions are small, yellow creatures who have existed from the beginning of time to serve history's most despicable masters before Gru. They are very depressed from the lack of a master and they try to look for a villain in the convention and serves Scarlett Overkill, an ambitious villain. I think this stand-alone film is going to serve as a well-developed and funny comedy because they were the best thing in the Despicable Me movies. Let's hope this film succeeds and if it does disappoint, I will be very disappointed.
5. Inside Out (Jun. 19)
This is a very interesting concept and movie where a girl moves to the Midwest when her father gets a new job and her mind is guided through five emotions: Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. The emotions live in HQ, where in the control center they control her. This looks like a psychological animated film of Inception for children. I hope they retain their genius as Pixar was out of the loop for a year and bring out the kid in me and also just brilliance from the animation and its story and its emotions.
4. Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (Jul. 31)
There's not much plot in this trailer except that we know that MI6 is infiltrated and under threat from the Syndicate, a near-mythical organization of rogue operatives. Ethan Hunt assembles his team for his most difficult mission - to prove that the Syndicate exists and take them down. All we know is that we have a new director and Tom Cruise performs a stunt outside a plane in mid-air and take off. That sold me. I hope it'll top the previous one because I thought that was very good.
3. Mad Max: Fury Road (May 15)
I am getting positive vibes from the trailers of the movie as George Miller, the director, is back helming this reboot starring Tom Hardy. I have seen the first Mad Max and I thought it was a pretty good Australian dystopic sci-fi thriller with Mel Gibson. However, regarding the sumptuous action sequences and style, it looks more like an awesome and entertaining popcorn movie.
2. Jurassic World (Jun. 12)
Nostalgia and dinosaurs. When was the last Jurassic Park movie? I think around 2001 and I thought it was ok. But, this movie is echoing the original Steven Spielberg movie a little bit as Isla Nublar has opened Jurassic World to the public. Even though, the people are in danger again but from what? We don't know. Chris Pratt looks like the perfect main guy for the hero as he plays a Velociraptor tamer. The only worry is if it whether lives up to the hype both in its characters and the story. I can't wait to see the dinosaurs on the big screen again.
1. Tomorrowland (May 22)
This is the most interesting film of the summer after The Avengers sequel as the film will take place somewhere in time where their actions affect the world and themselves. I think this going to be a great popcorn film where we have fun trying to analyze what's going to happen in the future. And, we have to take the journey with George Clooney and Britt Robertson. Plus, Brad Bird is the director and he made The Incredibles & Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. I expect this to become a hit during the summer season.
Honorable mentions:
Southpaw (Jul. 31)
Trainwreck (Jul. 17)
Pan (Jul. 24)
Aloha (May 29)
Terminator: Genisys (Jul. 1)
